Diamonds are one of the most popular gemstones featured in jewellery and are widely recognised as the birthstone for April. Diamonds have been admired objects of desire since ancient times and have a long history of folklore; some say diamonds were created when lightning bolts struck rocks, and others have said the gem possesses healing powers.

Amethyst

Ancient Greeks and Romans believed Amethysts would ward off intoxicating powers possessed by Bacchus, the God of Wine, and keep the wearer of the amethyst clear headed and quick-witted. In fact, amethysts have been associated with many myths and legends over history, as well as religions and cultures.

Jade

Considered a royal gemstone inChinadating back as far as 2950 BC, Jade is a beautiful gemstone known for its vivid green colour. It is thought to preserve the body after death, and can be found in many emperors’ tombs dating back thousands of years. Many people are still under the impression that wearing jade will keep them from harm’s way.

Pearls

Humans have admired and worshipped pearls for many years, and in Persian mythology they were known as the ‘tears of the Gods.’ Even the ancient Chinese claimed the moon held the power to create pearls, giving them their glow. Pearls are one of the most unique gemstones as they are the only one formed within a living creature, making them rare and difficult to recover.
