5 Jewellery Trends for Spring

Longer days, warmer weather, greener trees - with everything changing in spring, it’s the perfect time to think about refreshing your jewellery collection, even if it’s just bringing out pieces you haven’t worn in years.

Here are five trends for jewellery this spring to give you some inspiration!

Delicate Jewellery

While chunky statement jewellery is perfect for a winter wardrobe, now that spring has sprung it seems more appropriate to wear simpler, more delicate pieces. Thin gold and sterling silver rings work well, as well as gemstones in pastel hues, such as aquamarine, topaz and moonstone.

Inspired by Nature

Nature flourishes in spring, with trees in full blossom and the warmer air coaxing out bees and butterflies from hiding – why not reflect this in your jewellery style? Nature-inspired motifs are appearing in numerous of designer collections at the moment, so it’s the perfect time to treat yourself. Or if you prefer to buy vintage, you can find flowers, leaves and insects depicted in Art Nouveau jewellery.

Rose Gold

Rose gold makes a pretty alternative to yellow gold, and has the added benefit of matching well with sterling silver. Rose gold watches have been a firm favourite in the fashion world for a few years now, and would finish off a spring look perfectly. Here at Cuttings we stock a wide range of new and pre-owned rose gold jewellery, including watches.

Layering

Layering is a great way to resurrect old pieces of jewellery that may not look quite right on their own – with a few necklaces or bracelets put together, it shifts the focus off individual pieces and creates something entirely new. For spring and summer, this look is particularly effective in spring, paired with looser fitting dresses and blouses for a bohemian look. Another layering trend for spring is stacking rings; these are seen everywhere at the moment, but you can create the look yourself with rings you already own.

70s Revival

A particular trend for spring/summer 2015 is all things 1970s, with flares, fringing and earthy tones taking centre stage. Take a leaf from Joni Mitchell’s book with bangles, anklets and layered rings galore – perhaps you may even have some pieces at the back of your jewellery box that can see the light of day again this spring.
