A List of the World's Rarest Diamonds

Diamonds that are a variant of colours are the rarest in the world. In fact, less than 0.1% of mined diamonds are not white because so few places produce coloured diamonds. Some coloured diamonds are so rare and hard to get hold of that they are sold even before they are processed.

We’ve put together a list of some of the rarest diamond found on Earth.

Orange Diamonds

Orange diamonds are beautiful, rare coloured diamonds that are well-loved and sought-after by diamond enthusiasts. Whilst there is a low demand on the market for them, they have been known to fetch thousands of pounds at auction. The famous pumpkin orange diamond is estimated to be valued at $3 million.

Pink Diamonds

Pink diamonds are high in demand because of their stunning and vibrant look. Pink is associated with love, which makes them sought-after for use in engagement rings. Pink diamonds are a great investment and quickly increase in value. The Graff pink diamond sold for $46 million in 2010; the most expensive single jewel ever sold at the time.

Blue Diamonds

Blue diamonds are the second rarest fancy colour of diamond. The second rarest diamond position is close between pink and blue, but pink diamonds are every so slightly more commonly mined. Blue diamonds look similar to sapphires with a stunning glisten. The 45-carat Hope diamond was mined inIndiain 1812 and has an estimated value of $250 million.

Red Diamonds

Pure red diamonds have never been mined, however those with purple and brown tints have, all of which are extremely rare and hard to find. Some famous red diamonds include the Moussaieff Red and the Hancock Red Diamond, of which is estimated to be worth almost $1 million per carat.
