It is commonly known that the colour green is the most restful colour for the human eye. It is believed that looking at the colour green produces calming effects due to its association with nature.

As a result of this, a large number of gem cutters kept emeralds on their workbenches, resting their eyes on them after long hours of working closely with other gems. This would explain why they are so visually appealing here at Cuttings the Jewellers.

Spiritual properties

The emerald has an extensive history, dating all the way back to ancient Greece and Rome. It has been said that this was the gemstone of Venus, the goddess purveyor of love and hope.

The Ancient Egyptian ruler Cleopatra also had a significant influence on the popularity of emeralds. They symbolised fertility and immortality, and not only that, it was reported that Cleopatra gifted them to important foreign influencers, displaying wealth and power. Cuttings-Jeweller-Cleopatra.jpg

Often, Mummies would be buried with emeralds around their necks as they were believed to bring them eternal youth.

Emotional properties

Emerald jewellery is not only worn for its physical appearance. Its emotional and mental powers contribute to its popularity around the world and here at Cuttings the Jewellers.

It is believed that wearing an emerald provides mental clarity and eases stress. Its calming properties are also thought to help lift depression and cure insomnia, providing mental strength as well as physical beauty.

Wellness properties

Another belief around emeralds is that they provide improvement of several organs in the body. Wearing or being around the gemstone is believed to promote wellness of the heart.

As mentioned earlier, as the green is the most restful colour for the human eye, it was thought that the soothing properties of it would bring relief to the eyes, healing vision impairments. Therefore in ancient times, emeralds were soaked in water overnight and poured over the eyes to treat this.

Their mythological rejuvenating qualities were thought to reinvigorate organs and treat parts of the body like the kidneys, pancreas and the immune system.Cuttings-Jewellers-How-Emeralds-Provide-Wellness-Properties.jpg
