However, when rare metals are combined with rare stones to create such magnificent pieces, people are willing to pay a staggering price to be the owner of such limited and unique jewels. 

Here at Cuttings, we have researched the top five most expensive pieces of jewellery to have ever been sold, and they are spectacularly beautiful.

5. Pink Graff ring - This beautiful, feminine diamond came from the mines in South Africa. The 5-carat pink diamond is mounted with even more Graff diamonds to create a simply beautiful and luxurious ring that rightly sold for $11.8million.

4. Wallis Simpson’s Panther Bracelet - This stunning Cartier bracelet is identical to a panther and is made from onyx and diamond throughout with additional emerald eyes – it is simply stunning. It was once owned by King Edward VIII and was sold at auction for $12million. The rumoured buyer is thought to have been Madonna.

3. Bulgari Two-Stone Diamond Ring - This wonderful ring contains two very large and very beautiful diamonds, easily making it one of the world’s most expensive rings to have ever been sold. A collector bought this ring for $15.7million after a three-way bidding war.


2. Heart of the Ocean - If you’ve ever seen the film Titanic, you’ll be familiar with this stunning diamond. This piece is an exact replica of the necklace in the film, and has an estimated price of $20million. Replicas of this replica are now being sold for up to $3.5million at auction!
