The top most versatile jewellery to bring on a staycation

As we move into the new year and with the Covid-19 situations changing, you may be thinking about going on holiday, however, with current restrictions, it is likely that you will probably choose to stay within the UK after lockdown. This means there won’t be any limitations on luggage or what you are allowed to pack. But, this does not mean you should pack out your suitcase with unnecessary items! Here at Cuttings, we have put together a little guide on what pieces of jewellery would be best to take on your staycation in the UK.

The first rule of thumb is not to bring multiple pieces of jewellery that can tangle up easily - this can cause unnecessary damage and will be a hassle for you. Try to keep it versatile and simple; pieces you can wear with day and night outfits. Additionally, you must ensure that your jewellery travels in a compact style; we recommend a mini jewellery box or storage container. This will prevent damage to the jewellery you bring with you and you can also place items in compartments, for example, day time or night time sections.

The focal point of any holiday is to get away from your everyday routine. So, why not spice up some outfits and bring away the pieces that aren’t your usual go-to piece? But, do not bring any jewellery that you are afraid of losing. We recommend leaving behind the diamond studs that you just received as a gift at Christmas!

However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring your favourite jewellery. Bring your must haves, but don’t over accessorise. We recommend you take one or two necklaces, a few pairs of stud or hoop earrings and a statement bangle that can accompany any outfit. Here at Cuttings, we have some great options if you are looking for some unique jewellery pieces

Keep it simple

You do not have to overload your luggage with more than you need, so why not try bringing your staple pieces with you and possibly some special statement jewellery for that ‘holiday’ feeling? Always plan ahead so your pieces coincide with your outfits (day and night), which means you can pack lighter and make room for other things in your luggage.

Protect your jewellery

Always use the hotel room or apartment safe if you have one, not only for your jewellery or jewels but for important documents, keys, etc. If you do not have a safe, you should keep it in your luggage and not out on the side, as this will be in plain sight for any thieves. Additionally, the same goes for if you’re thinking of popping the question on this staycation, try and keep the ring in a box on you. If you are thinking of proposing, you can view our beautiful collection of engagement rings on our website.

To summarise, don’t bring valuable jewellery away with you, try to pack light and keep it simple, and always protect your items while away!
