Why Should I Sell My Gold?

The Cuttings Blog

WhyShouldISellMyGoldParting with your old gold jewellery may have been a consideration of yours in the past, but it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the bombardment of “Cash for Gold” advertisements online and on the high street. However, when selling your gold to a trusted jeweller or gold specialist you will find it has many more benefits, beyond the financial appeal.

The first reason to sell your old gold this way is for the ease of the process. It’s not like selling goods through classified ads or online, which requires listing the item and then posting or hand delivering it. You’re also not guaranteed that the item will sell this way, and even if it does, you may not be getting a fair price for it.

Selling your gold to a jeweller or gold expert simply requires you to bring the gold in to the shop (or post it, if you prefer). The gold will then be weighed, a price will be calculated, and you’ll be given the cash – it’s as simple as that.

That’s the second benefit of selling your old gold: instant cash. Whether it’s to pay a particular bill or just to spend on something for yourself, it makes sense to get instant cash for something that is of no use sitting in a drawer at home. We’ll accept gold of all shapes and sizes; even if the jewellery is broken, this does not affect the price paid to you.

There may be other reasons you wish to sell your gold. Your jewellery box may be full of things you never use and wish to get rid of, or perhaps you’ve inherited jewellery from a relative that you are never going to wear. Cashing the gold in is much more beneficial than throwing it away or selling it by another means.

When it comes to inherited gold jewellery, the advantage of taking it into a jeweller is that you may be able to exchange it for something you will actually enjoy wearing. This way, you are still honouring your loved one by wearing a piece of jewellery in their memory, rather than leaving their old jewellery at home to gather dust.

If you are put off selling your gold because you are unsure of what happens to it afterwards, you can rest assured that if you bring it in to us at Cuttings, it will either be re-sold or sent to be recycled (the latter happens with scrap gold items). If you have any questions about our gold purchasing service, please don’t hesitate in getting in touch with us – we’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.
