Yes, the 637-carat L’Incomparable diamond necklace by Mouawad is the most luxurious necklace in the world and has held that Guinness World Record title since 2013.

It is valued a mind-boggling $55 million (£42 million), which is unheard of for any necklace made in the history of mankind.
But with the necklace’s yellow gen set on an 18k gold, delicately wrought chain, it’s easy to see why. It is certainly made for royalty indeed!

So, what has gone into making the most luxurious necklace in the world?
Apart from the giant yellow jewel gangling at the front, the necklace is also made up of 35 round diamonds, 27 pear-shaped diamonds, 9 heart-shaped diamonds, 5 emerald-cut diamonds, 5 cushion diamonds, 4 oval diamonds, 3 Asscher-cut diamonds and 3 radiant diamonds.
Little wonder it costs so much money! Even the yellow gem is, in of itself, the largest flawlessly cut diamond ever graded by the Gemmological Institute of America.
As you can doubtless tell from the close-ups on the video, the design is reminiscent of a vine with many off-shooting branches ending in the beautifully cut diamond centrepieces mentioned above.
All of it tapers to the centrepiece yellow gem that dangles from it in perfect elegance to the rest of this exquisite piece.
Has Anyone Bought It?
As far as anyone knows, nobody has bought L’Incomparable. It has mostly existed as a museum piece and the frontrunner for Mouawad itself. If any lucky millionaire has ever tried it on, it has gone unnoticed by the rest of us!
That isn’t to say there haven’t been rumours, of course. The most prevalent of these is that it was bought by an Italian billionaire for his teenaged daughter. But this is unconfirmed and there have been no announcements to prove this is the case.
In either case, you’d have to be so rich to be practically royal in order to afford such an item. Maybe renting it would be cheaper, but we’d hate to be the person paying the cost of insurance if it ever got damaged!
