Choosing Jewellery to match your Wedding Dress

Choosing a gorgeous wedding gown is of course, essential but then comes the hard work. Many brides-to-be are overwhelmed with choice - from classic touches to statement pieces, it’s difficult to choose from all the options! Basing your choice of jewellery on the style of dress is a great way to prevent your jewellery from stealing the spotlight that should be on the dress – or you. Read on to find out some of our secrets to getting the balance right.
Less is more
A wedding dress is a blank canvas, however, don’t let that be an invitation to over accessorise. You want to pick either gold or silver as a theme throughout – not both. If you’ve already got a theme for your wedding picking gold and silver jewellery on top of that can make things look a bit messy. Stick to one colour and keep it simple. In years to come people will be asking about the dress, not the jewellery, after all.
Trends vs Classic
Your wedding album will be pulled out for years to come. Choosing trendy options may date your photos, by opting for timeless classics instead your bridal style will always look stylish.
Look at your neckline
Your neckline says it all and will give you an idea on the type of necklace to go for. A sweetheart or strapless neckline would pair up nicely with a multi-strand necklace or shimmery collar. If your wedding dress has a halter, strap or illusion necklace you might want to ditch the necklace and opt for a nice pair of statement earrings.
Another option would be to add a plain or beaded sash placed on your waist, this will help to highlight the smallest part of your frame and accent the gown nicely as well.
Consider coloured accessories
Don’t rule out coloured accessories. Adding a pop of colour is a subtle way to liven up a classic neutral colour. It can inject personality into your look. If you've decided to have a themed wedding, accessories are the perfect way to continue the theme!
