5 of the Most Valuable Jewels for High Pawnbroking Loans

Precious stones have been a fascination of both men and women throughout history. For those who are lucky enough to own valuable jewels, they can be used to your advantage to secure a high pawnbroking loan. You are likely to be offered a higher loan if your goods are worth a higher amount to ensure the pawnbroking lenders are covered in the event of non-payment.

We’ve put together five of the most valuable jewels around the world that could help you to obtain a high pawnbroking loan.

Tanzanite

Tanzanite was first discovered in 1967 in Tanzania and was first sold in the iconic jewellery store, Tiffany’s, in New York in 1969. Tanzanite is a soft gemstone that wears faster when compared to other gems and so, they tend to be worn less frequently to avoid damage.

Tanzanite is worth around £500 per carat.

Black Opal

Opals, in general, are extremely valuable. Those who own opals of rare shades can easily rival the prices of more expensive gemstones like diamonds and rubies. Black opals are one of the rarest shades in the world, and tend to contain a black or dark green base colour rather than being solid black. Most black opals in the world are found in Australia, though the stone tends to scratch easily and is therefore often uses in brooches and earrings to deter from this.

Black opals are worth around £1800 per carat.

Red Beryls

One of the rarest gemstones on Earth and therefore one of the most valuable, red beryls are often recognised as red emeralds. Only three places on the planet are known to have deposits of red beryls; two ranges in Utah and one in New Mexico. The colour of red beryl makes it great for use in ladies’ jewellery.

Red beryls are worth around £7700 per carat- almost 1000 times more valuable than gold.

Jadeite

Not to be confused with the semi-precious stone, jade, the jadeite stone is much more valuable and admired. Some old jadeite jewellery and artefacts have previously been sold for millions of dollars, in fact the most famous of jadeite sold for $10million. Jadeites are a unique lime green colour and are mainly found in Myanmar, which is the world’s largest source of the gemstone. However, it is believed to be nearing exhaustion in around 10-20 years.

Jadeites are worth around £15500 per carat.

Painite

Painite is a unique and rare gemstone which was first uncovered in Myanmar (formally Burma) in 1950. However, only several stones found have been cut as a gem, which makes it extremely rare in terms of jewellery and owners. This stone is unusual and sports a combination of orange, red and brown and looks similar to a ruby when cut.

Painite gemstones are worth around £39000 per carat.

Of course, there are many other gemstones that are extremely valuable, for example the more popular rubies, diamonds and emeralds.
